Act II, Scene 1
 Owen & David sneak in with their supplies |
 Owen & David discuss strategy for their plan |
 Froggy returns to learn that Charlie is able to talk |
 Froggy can't believe what he is hearing. He urges Charlie to tell a
story. He explains Charlie’s skills "back home" |
Charlie begins to tell a story in "his language". It is quite fast paced, with Charlie acting out each
scene. The audience roars with laughter, not understanding a word he's saying. Everyone else
understands him, with the exception of Owen. |

Froggy can’t believe they fall for his act. Meanwhile, Owen turns on Charlie
accusing him of being a "Foreigner" and causing trouble for everyone. He desperately tries to convice
the others, after Charlie tries to get him to understand what he is saying.
As everyone understood what Charlie has said, Catherine is convinced it is due to Ellard’s teaching
Charlie English. This proves Ellard isn’'t dumb, and is entitled to his share of their
parent’s inheritance.

David is outraged at Catherine’s decision, as is Owen. David & Owen’s
plan for using the money to further the Klan’s agenda - lets their KKK involvement, slip for
the first time.
Everyone is in shock, most of all Catherine. David tries to explain that thier cause
is a good one. Owen threatens David to get the money that Catherine plans to give to Ellard.
While Betty tries to console Catherine, Ellard has a plan. |
